Case 1 - Intra-arterial urokinase


Case History
A 35 year old female smoker using oral contraceptives presented with global aphasia and a dense right hemiparesis. Initial arteriogram demonstrated complete occlusion of the proximal left middle cerebral artery. The patient received intra-arterial urokinase. A repeat arteriogram demonstrated complete resolution of the left MCA occlusion. The patient had total resolution of neurologic symptoms within in one hour of clot lysis.
