The Chattanooga Network for Stroke is built around
core facilities of the Erlanger Medical Center, Parkridge
Hospital, Memorial Health Care System, Inc. all located
in the City of Chattanooga, Tennessee.
Erlanger and Memorial are Level 1 Stroke Centers. This
designation signifies that medical facilities at these
centers can provide a six hour window for stroke intervention
using either intravenous or intra-arterial t-PA to patients
in acute stroke distress.
Parkridge is a Level II facility, with a three hour
treatment window beginning from the time of stroke on-set.
Therapeutic intervention is limited at Parkridge to
the administration of intravenous t-PA.
From this core of expertise, hospitals and medical care
centers within a 200 mile radius of Chattanooga will
develop diagnostic and screening procedures for acute
stroke intervention on a local level, or, as indicated,
at one of the Level I facilities.
