The prime mission of the Chattanooga Network
for Stroke (CNS) is to educate participating hospital
systems in stroke prevention and acute stroke care.
To this end, our staff is available to provide the following
programs:
1) Our team will provide your local EMS personnel with
training on current
pre-hospital stroke care. This includes detailed teaching
of pre-hospital neurological assessment and proper medical
management of the acute stroke patient through a program
that was developed by David Gordon, MD, at the University
of Miami Medical School.
2) We are available to review your current guidelines
for stroke management and triage. Our goal is to help
tailor protocols to make them best meet the individual
needs of each participating hospital.
3) Though our association with the American Stroke Association
and Gretchen Castleberry, the ASA stroke liaison in
Chattanooga, we offer excellent patient education programs
about stroke prevention and care. These programs can
help educate your community about the signs and symptoms
of stroke and what to do if symptoms develop.
